I have quite a few verbatim (white matte) dvd inkjet printable discs that I have simply written the identifying text on with a black sharpie pen.

They are all good quality burns and to prevent from having to re-burn, I want to take these discs and print right over the sharpie text with an ink jet printer.

Anybody done this, and what were your results? Does it cover the black sharpie completely?

TRY THIS ON A TEST DISK FIRST!!!

I've used a very small amount of nail-polish remover to remove Sharpie from CD-Rs and from cake-boxes. I've never done it on printable media or DVDs. But give it a try. Then let it dry COMPLETELY before printing.

If you leave the Sharpie, you are going to see it showing through whatever you print. It would be just like taking a printed page and running it through the printer again.

I was afraid of that... I've removed/corrected sharpie with 90% alchohol before, but I do notice that it begins to degrade the white coating on the verbatim disc.

My thinking was that if I applied enough ink (highest quality setting) perhaps it would NOT show through. But not having tried it yet, don't know.
