It seems the final quality .wmv file I am getting from TMPGenc is not nearly the same quality as some other .wmv files I see around that are at a much lower bit rate.

I am encoding in 3 speeds (350,650,1000) but it seems the final outout is washed out. The blacks are black and some detail is lost.

Any recomedations? I am encoding these files from DVD for playback via our website.

    Thanks.

What frame size/resolution are you using?
Is your video dvd source interlaced?

Sorry I thought I was in a different forum.

    650 - 400x300 29.97 (Progressive), 1 Pass CBR, 650 Bitrate, 8000 Keyframe Interval.
    1000 - 512x384 same as above but Birate 1000
    1500 - 600x452 same as above bur bitrate 1500

Not sure how to tell if the source is interlaced. Its an original dvd and I am using the vob that I rip with DVD Decrypter.

Original DVDs are usually progressive and you should use 24fps for such then. And does tmpgenc use wmv9? THe older wmv7/8 are not as good as wmv9.

You can also use AutoMKV for dvd/mpg/vob to WMV.

And I hope you aren't putting up clips from copyrighted commercial dvds on a PUBLIC website...

Yes ther version of tmpgenc is using wmv9.

I will take a look at AutoMKV.

We own the rights to the DVDs so its ok.

    Thanks for your help!
