I encountered a problem with DVDshrink last night that has never happened before. I was trying to burn a 6.32GB file and after 1.10GB was encoded, it said :

“DVDshrink has encountered a problem: Out of Memory : there is not enough storage space to perform the task”

I already had 9GB of space on my external drive(where the target folder was) free, but I went ahead and freed up 3.2 additional for a total of 12.2GB on the external drive. I have about 3GB free on my main hard drive. I also tried to close down as many programs running in the background as I could. But, after all that it still gave the same error message. Has anyone encountered this before?
I don’t get whether it is referring to the memory on my machine or the hard drive storage space. Given the amount of free storage space I would guess it would be my memory. But I just don’t get why it would suddenly not have enough, I have not downloaded any new programs or anything that would suddenly lock up a bunch of memory. The only difference I can remember about last night is that QuickTime player started up in my desktop tray without warning.

I have backed up hundreds of discs on this machine and never had this happened. Any ideas how to fix this?

Also, if it is a physical memory problem, is there any way to tell EXACTLY how much memory you are using and how much is free?

To follow up, I deleted DVDshrink, rebooted and re-installed it. I used Ripit4me as suggested(in the linked post) and analyzed the files with that linked program (in Ripit4me) and it allowed shrink to burn the disc with no apparent errors.
However, when I watched the disc everything was fine from opening to main menu to play movie. Then, at 1min.10sec. into the video it jumps to 35min.10sec. which is the beginning of the next full chapter on the disc.

I checked the original again and it does not do this. Very stange, any ideas???

I use Ripit4me only when absolutely needed. I had a hard time backing up our hard to find "Aquamarine" DVD and tried using Ripit4me. It "worked" but on viewing later I found that parts of the movie were missing, which I found strange since no errors were reported.

    I haven't trusted Ripit4me since.
