    hi i also have an AVI problem with this file:

    http://www.rideoutproductions.co.uk/avi_no_video.jpg

    I get sound and the video previews in a windows thumbnail but when I play I just get a black screen. I have installed divx, xvid etc but still no luck...?

    As this is a DV avi, Installing XviD/DivX codecs as expected does nothing.

    Install a dv codec, https://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=dv+codec&Submit=Search&s=&orderby=Name&hits=...uthorfeatures=

    Or play with VLC.
