I am using a Canopus ADVC-55 with a Panasonic AG-1960 SVHS player/recorder hooked up through SVHS cable. The switches on the Canopus are: 1 & 2 on, 3 & 4 off, 5 on, 6 off. The video I capture using WIN DV is over saturated color wise. It is watchable but the colors are too bright- too saturated. Is there anything I can do to get a more realistic color on caputre? This setup works great except for the color issue. Audio stays in sync just fine. I hope someone has some ideas about getting the color of the caputred video more like the original VHS tape. I have captured a number of tapes and this issue has started recently- probably the last three tapes captured have been this way.

I just tried a VHS tape I know isn't encoded with MacroVision and it appears to capture fine- color looks good so I am thinking this is probably an issue with MacroVision. Has anyone got any ideas around this with the Canopus ADVC-55?

A full frame time base corrector between the player and the ADVC unit will remove the macrovision. Not a cheap option though. Otherwise look for one of the cheaper video enhancer units like the ones Sima used to make. Should have the same effect.
