Ok i am a newb and been trying this new program i got, Cinema Craft Encoder. I was under the impression that CCE will help A LOT with picture quality. Hopfully this is correct.

I have a movie in WMP then used CCE to encode it to .mpv file. Now how can i burn this (what program so i need) ?

I normally use DivxtoDVD to encode and burn my movies.

Any help for a newb ? Thanks

You need to start at the very beginning, do a lot of reading, follow some guides, then see how you go.

To begin with, WMP is a player. You don't have a movie in WMP, you have it in particular format or container, encoded in a particular way. For example, an avi file that uses the Divx codec.

Secondly, CCE will only give you good output if the source is good. Yes, it is a better encoder than DivxtoDVD, however if you feed both the same source, and don't spend any time using avisynth to clean up the source, the difference will be minimal.

There are a couple of basic rules to video

    1. Filesize = Running Time X Bitrate
    2. Garbage in = garbage out

Thirdly, you need to learn about authoring. What it is, how it works, and what you use. You have created what is called an Elementary Video Stream. That is, it is video, and nothing else. You also need to encode your audio appropriately, then you need to use an authoring program to bring the two together and to make a compliant DVD format. Programs to consider include Tmpgenc DVD Author or GUIforDVDAuthor.

Start in the Guide section and the User Guides forum. Read and learn and play.

The .mpv file is just the video part. Did you also end up with an audio file? The audio file would be a .mpa or a .mp2. When you have both, you need to author them to the DVD format, assuming they are both DVD compliant. (See 'WHAT IS' DVD' to the upper left on this page.)

For that I use TMPGEnc DVD Author, but you can use the freeware DVDAuthorgui or GUI for dvdauthor.
