Compile DVD with still images

Hi,

I've got some DVD VOB's from a camcorder, what I want to do is combine footage with still images e.g. like having a still image fade in (or such effect) then movie footage, then repeat etc. I also want to overlay text at certain points.

I have tried Nero Vision, it seems to do all I want apart from being able to insert still images.

I've had a look about and can't find any how to's on this.

Can anyone recommend a good program for doing this?

Thanks, do you know if I could do the same with Adobe Premier. I've got this on OEM disk but haven't installed it.

Yes, you can, however the recommended programs have wizards etc that make is easy to set up timing and transitions. If you use Premiere then you will have to do this manually. If you want to do the Ken Burn's thing (track across the image or zoom in or out) then you will have to do this manually as well.

FWIW, I do most of mine manually in Vegas, as it is more flexible, however it is certainly a longer process.
