My friend and I are having a hard time getting the audio to play from a dual-layer DVD movie produced on his PC. It is a 3hr movie, although the length doesn't matter at all, captured from VHS and rendered in Pinnacle 10. When rendered, the DVD image is written in VIDEO_TS image format to the hard drive. When the VOB file is played in WMP, there is no sound (we have the same WMP version). On 3 out of 4 DVD players, there is no sound. On one DVD player there is sound. In PowerDVD and Showtime, there is sound. The problem only occurs on his machine and only when recording to dual layer. Problem does not occur for single layer. I cannot duplicate the problem on my machine. We have very similar PCs and the same version of Pinnacle. The problem did not occur when my friend was using Pinnacle 9 and that is why he discovered it.

We used DVD shrink to discover that when he writes to single layer DVD image VIDEO_TS folder, his audio is AC3. When he choses dual layer, his audio is MPEG-1. This may explain why we get audio in my Sony DVR VX-515, but no audio in my Panasonic CP52, or his Sony DVP-NS-575P or his Coby DVD-514. When I render to a dual layer image, I still get AC3.

Does any body have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!
