Problems converting SVCD TO VCD wtih DVD2AVI and TMPGE

Ok I was trying to follow the guide for converting mpeg2 to vcd but I've been having problems with TMPGE not opening the .d2v output file. I can decode the SVCD fine with DVD2AVI and it outputs the .mpa and .d2v files. So the tutorial says to open them with TMPGE, but thats where the problems arises. I try and open the .d2v and it says its unsupported. It'll open the audio file (the .mpa) fine, but it won't open the .d2v. I installed the VFP plugin and its selected in the pulldown menu in TMPGE. The only thing I can think of is that in the DVD2AVI it has a help pull down menu and it has a VFP option, but the VFP isn't checked, which means its not active. So how do I get TMPGE to read the d2v!
