  1. I purchased a Haupauge WinTV Go-Plus a few weeks back, to capture signal from a Direct TV Satellite Receiver D10-200. Using an updated driver and software from the site, I opened up the application to a screen like
    this

I'm not sure whats causing these lines, but other times it seems like the primary colors are split in sections across the screen, with blue overwhelming the left, green shading the middle,
and a yellow cast filling the right side (not necessarily in that order).

I've tried connecting with both Coaxial, and Composite cable and even ran S-Video using a composite adapter plug, into the 878 composite only interface, and yet each has been plagued with the same color issue. I've tried all the software color adjustments and through my display adapter and still no better.
If I desaturate to blk and wht, the lines disappear and the picture itself looks fine,
but as for color association, the sky being blue, or grass being green, its like oil on water.

  2. The picture you posted was 768x576 -- I suspect you are trying to capture in PAL (European TV format) format not NTSC (USA TV format).

  3. I've tried both. In PAL the lines generally disappear, and leaves the colors separated.
In NTSC, I get the lines.
Without adustment the screen looked like
    this

Thanks SHS, sounds plausible enough, and I even reached back to the center of the stack, just to make sure it wasn't previously opened.
    Blind dumb luck I guess.

Maybe I should of picked up the PVR 150 instead?
Seems like this PCI board is outdated now. I really just wanted to record some stuff off TV, football games, etc. I dont even own a camcorder.

Glad I kept the packaging, or I'd be out front, dumpster diving on a holiday.

  8. I don't know if I got ripped, but I exchanged the 878, for a PVR150. I think that 878 was jinxed.

At $89 it was a bit more, maybe a bit newer too.

I saw the HVR1600. It was on the next shelf up, above where cheapskates need not reach.

  9. Well #$%! When I left to exchange the card, I left my PC opened up, with the intention, of just replacing the new card in the same PCI slot, when I returned.

In having brought back a different card, I decided to first boot it back up, and uninstall the old software, before installing the new card.
Well, not all of it uninstalled. WinTV Scheduler is still on the desktop, without any uninstall program, and nothing appearing in add and and remove programs. I tried running Hcwclear.exe and it states somthing about not recognising it as an internal/external command.

Any clue how to clear the old files?

jagabo you need under stand that QAM not main stream rigth now
OpenQAM support will must likely not be in full swing in tell later this year if not the last 6/7mos of next year there are min Manufacturers working on that planned for future standerd, After all FTC mandate that analog tv station must be turn off in Feb, 2009.
So they going need Unencrypted Signal know OpenQAM for basic TV channel which usely only your local area tv station + community access + tv guide and weather and in some cases a few expanded basic channel after all as more and more people are switching to Digital TV Tuner.
I'm guesting in Jan 2009 or just before that we may see very low cost converter box for thoses that still have standerd Analog TV set or Digital TV with non digital tuner or a non QAM digital tuner.

Greyhorne don't worry about the Scheduler just del the wintv folder if below Hcwclear dosen't work and reinstall it may been a one old bad installer.

That's more than you can get with ATSC. I know a lot of people with HDTVs with built in QAM tuners that are watching unecrypted HD channels. One person I know subscribes only to basic cable but can watch even the premium HD channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.) with his HDTV's QAM tuner. His cable provider is so clueless they don't encrypt anything! I don't suspect that will last too long though.

In my area there are about a dozen unencrypted QAM stations available from the cable company. I can't get anything OTA.

  13. Hey SHS,

Were you simply noting that the latest PVR150,
    WAS the HVR1600?

Or that the HVR 1600 is a seperate product altogether?

I thought I saw another box listed as HVR-1600 on the shelf, but opening up my box, the capture card has WinTV-HVR-1600, listed on the circuit board. The manual, and installation CD, all are 1600 as well. Is it the same thing?

Only the outer box lists PVR150, what gives?

  14. Ahh, nevermind,
I found a company note included with the paperwork.
    Dear Customer,

Thank you for purchasing the WinTV-PVR-150.
We have had a shortage of the WinTV-PVR-150 boards during the holiday season. Therefore, in place of the WinTV-PVR-150, we are including our new WinTV-WVR-1600, which has the same features as the WinTV-PVR-150 but also includes an ATSC hi-definition TV receiver...

You were right. reaching to the center of the stack came up Black Jack, and right about now I've broke even.
