  1. Okay guys I really need your help.

Whenever I burn a DVD full of divx episodes for some strange reeason they NEVER come out in order on the DVP642. I even put a zero in front of the episodes and they still seem to come out in some random order on the DVP642 menu.

Does any1 know how the philips DVP642 arranges the files to be in order so I can name the filenames accordingly. This is really killing me because I litereally have to press stop and search for the appropriate next episode otherwise it could just go from 2 to say 11. Thanks everyone.

  3. alphabetical order, use only:

    0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWYZ_

Don't use spaces or any other characters. Do not use more than one period. Only have the three character extension after the period.

If using long filenames start with episode numbers first (if applicable):

    1x01_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_1.AVI
    1x02_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_2.AVI
    1x03_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_3.AVI

    or:

    01_NAME_OF_THIS_EPISODE.AVI
    02_THE_NEXT_EPISODE.AVI
    03_THIS_IS_THE_EPISODE_NAME.AVI

Do NOT name them like this:

    MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_1.AVI
    MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_2.AVI
    MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_3.AVI

However, if I remember correctly, the 642 is limited to displaying only the first eight characters of any filename or so, which means that:

    1x01_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_1.AVI
    1x02_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_2.AVI
    1x03_MY_FAVORITE_SHOW_SEASON_1_EPISODE_3.AVI

...would basically look like this in the 642's menu:

    1x01_MY_
    1x02_MY_
    1x03_MY_

...or worse, if you didn't have the episode numbers at the beginning:

    MY_FAVOR
    MY_FAVOR
    MY_FAVOR

I can't remember offhand whether or not the 642 always shows the extension, so if it does, just add ".AVI" to the end of the above examples.

If I'm writing a data disc specifically for viewing on the 642, I usually try to rename everything to the 8.3 standard (eight-character filename, three-character extension). So the first filename above might turn into "mfs0101.avi," for example.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Of course, but they're still in order. You label the disc with the the other details. Obviously, this isn't a solution for unrelated videos.
