I'm going to convert home video from VHS to DVD. I'm wondering if I should use single layer or dual layer DVDs. Is the quality/durability of dual layer as good as single layer? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. SL has better compatibility and are cheaper(per GB),if you go DL buy Verbatim +R and use Imgburn.

    Yep moviegeek is right.

Just think though if doubling your bitrate is important to you. Because you can only get 4gigs (roughly) on a single layer. You can get 8gigs on a dual layer. That means twice the bitrate on average.

Of course twice the bitrate doesn't always mean a better picture. If your source is spotty at best even using the highest bitrate on your capture card won't improve it. Filters in post processing can enhance it but not dramatically.

  4. if you going to choose DL be sure not to buy FUJI DL or any Ritek media code they SUCK big time.

I bought a Pack of 15 from bestbuy for $20 total lost. Verbatim is the way to go
