I have a question along the same lines, however I have a MAC. I want to upload the DVD onto a website but all I could find were .VOB .IFO a files. How do I get the DVD into like a MPEG or something like that?

You can extract or convert the MPEGs using Toast 7 or 8, or MPEG Streamclip.

I wrote a short article for the e-zine About This particular Mac. It describes using MPEG Streamclip to do just what you want to do. The files you will need are in the DVDs .vob files. You can find the article here.
