i've only been using this software for about 2-3 months. i use it for 2 purposes only: to encode hard subs into avi files and to re-encode avi files that quicktime is missing codecs to play. this is because i prefer to encode the avi files with roxio toast before burning, to avoid errors, so i need the avi file to play exactly the way i want to burn it.
I've burned dozens of dvds from avis i created using ffmpegx, and never had any problem. for the past few weeks, i've had every file i've encoded with ffmpegx force my toast titanium/idvd/and every other dvd-burning software i've used, to unexpectedly shut down during the 2nd encoding process. i've tried at least 6 or 7 different files with ffmegx, with subs and without, and as soon as i add that file to a dvd project and click "record," it will encode anywhere from 1 hour to 15 seconds, then my sofware closes and i get the "roxio toast unexpectedly quit, do you wish to reopen" box popping up. I've tried deleting and reinstalling ffmpegx and all of its components, and the problem just seems to get worse (shuts down even sooner, sometimes before i even try to encode). i usually have ffmpegx encode to a divx file, though i've tried all forms of avis, and it always happens.
also, every file i try to burn that i didn't use ffmpegx on, encodes and burns perfectly, so i know it's not a problem with my toast software.
does anyone know what's going on? i need this software! i work a lot with films in other languages that need subtitles, and don't know how else i can add in hard subs...
please help!
