I use MTR 2.6.6 to rip movies...
    usually I have no problems...

Open Season & Saw 3 both returned the following errors...

    READ ERROR: Can't Open IFO.
I/O ERROR: Can't Read DVD File Structure.

I click OK and thats as far as it goes.

When I open the VIDEO_TS folder there are 328 in there.

Is there a way around this?[/u]

    1) Disable pre-scan in preferences.
    2) MTR Title Set Extraction Main Feature- Make sure you choose Title with (MF) behind it.
    3) Ignore error message.
    4) Let it rip.
    5) Ripped Video_TS won't play with DVD Player
    6) Use DVD2oneX Movie Only to take out Empty Cells.
    7) Burn to DVD

You could go to RipDifferent and join the MTR forum to read all about how to succeed in ripping your DVDs.

Quick question. Empty cells are the ones with 0 mb or 0 sec? I've got some with 0mb and like 1 sec then some with 2 sec and 0mb.

as long as they are in a grouping, then you want to delete these.
if they are preceeded and followed by files that are
more than 1 sec, andmore than 0mb, then these would be layer break files, and you do not want to delete those.

just only delete the ones that run like this example:

    1 1sec 0mb
    2 1sec 0mb
    3 1sec 0mb
    4 1sec 0mb
    5 1sec 0mb
    ....
    30 1sec 0mb
    31 1sec 0mb
    32 1sec 0mb

where the first 32 cells (1-32) are 1 sec long and 0mb in size.

I think I understand what you are saying...however, I have come across a case (Open Season) where there are cells with 0:00 in length and MORE than 1mb in size. They are in successive order with the ones that are 0mb, so I 'm not sure if they should be deleted. Is there a rule about this?

Thank you so much your help.

    Yes they should be unchecked.

If you look at Chapter column take out the zero cells till you see chapters run in order, 1,2,3,4 etc. Notice right now that they are all chapter 1.

Thank you very much. That worked great for Open Season. Unfortunately, not so for Running with Scissors and U.S. vs. John Lennon.

I did this with MTR 2.6.6 and it worked for me. Just let it rip when it seems to stop.

Do title set extraction (pre-scan disabled)with MTR 2.6.6
    Make sure you choose Title#(MF).

    Ignore error message.

    Let it RIP!

Then do movie only with DTOX (Empty or zero cells)

Use this method on both. It worked on both for me and fellow members at RipDifferent.

I understand everything so far - but it seems that DVD2OneX2 won't recognize my burner......?

When i go to burn it says:

"The selected Drive is not capable of burning DVD media."

I have an external I/o Magic DVD burner - and it's worked fine with every other program that I've attempted to use it with... is there a way to save the movie with the newly deleted empty cells and take that into Toast and burn? or a way for DVD2OneX2 to recognize that my burner is functional?? any suggestions?

    thanks in advance

Go into the Preferences for DTOX (DVD2OneX) and change your Output Type.

You can use Toast if you change to File Set.

    or

You can use Disk Utility if you change to Image.

DTOX uses the burn engine of OS X, so I don't know why you having this problem.

I am having a problem copying Running with Scissors. It seems my DVD burner will not see the DVD. I've tried various rippers, DVD Fab Platinum, DVD Decrypter and various others. I take the disc to another pc and it plays on WinDVD, but after installing Win DVD on my pc it still will not see or play it. Is there some issue with my burner/player? I am using an NEC 3520AW burner, and it has always worked flawlessly. It is still working fine, but just not with this disc as well as a couple others here lately. Whats changed, and what do I need to do? Thanks.
