    hello all
i wanna rip the subtitle from Episodic DVD (The O.C., if its matter).
now, how can i rip them with divided timing?
i know i can rip the all subtitle but i need them with divided times.
like if the length of episode 1 is 47 min'
the subtitle start @ 0 and end @ 47 min'
now the episode 2 start @ 48 min'
i want to reset the timing some how and get the subtitle start @ 0

(now i quite sure you understand what i want)

    tnx.

  3. Hi-

You have to know the exact lengths of each episode before the one you're working with now. If you are retiming the subs for episode 2, you need the exact length of episode 1. For EP3, you need the combined lengths of Ep1 + Ep2. Right? Once you have that information, then it depends on what format the subs are in. If SRT or SUB text files, you can use Subtitle Creator to retime them (Synchronize->Set Time Delay). If SSA subs, I use SubStation Alpha. If IDX/SUB image files, then the Sub File Cutter Utility that comes with VobSub will do the job. Newer versions of Subtitle Creator can also adjust the delays of IDX/SUB format subs (VobSubs).

I assume you've ripped the subs into a single text subtitle.

If it's not SRT, than use Subtitle Workshop, convert to an SRT file.

Open that in a text editor.

You can see the time codes followed by the text.

Cut the text from the begining to the end of the first ep; paste into a new file, save as ep01.srt.
Now cut the subs for the second ep, save as ep02.srt; etc.

I assume you've got separate video files for each ep.
These should have the same filename as the subs, with .avi or .mpg at the end instead of srt.

Go back to Subtitle Workshop. Open ep01.srt, open the corresponding movie.
Check the sync. The first should be okay as-is.

Now open ep02.srt, and the second video.
Now play the movie to the first spoken line and adjust time
with Edit/Timings/Set delay to shift all the subs back to the time shown on the display.
    Save the srt.

    Etc...

If your subs are in a text based format (.srt, etc.), Subtitle Workshop can do the splitting for you, under "tools -> split subtitle..." No need to use a seperate text editor.
