    Can someone please help me.

I have just installed a Conceptronics CTVFMi2 card into mt Dell Inspiron 5100 which has an onboard ADI sound card.

I need to get a cable to connect the s-video (9-pin din) to the audio in of the card (3.5mm jack plug). Does anyone know where I could source one?

Why in the world would you want to connect a video cable (s-video) to an audio port? What do you hope to accomplish?
    Have a good one,

Good question, I wondered if s-video carried sound.

This is what I got when I mailed Conceptronic support....

    ============================================

    Ls,

Have you made sure to use the 3,5mm jack that is on the AV cable and to
connect it to the line-in of your audio card?
Have you made sure to choose the line-in as source in your program
    configuration?

    With regards,
    Conceptronic support

    Subject: CTVFMi2 soound problem.

    Sirs,

I have just installed a CTVFMi2 card on my PC, it runs Windows XP and the
    sound comes from USB speakers.

The TVR Plus software is working fine in all respects (Picture, remote
control, etc) except for the fact that I am getting no sound. This is not an
issue with the PC sound being mute, I get sound from other applications with
no problem, or the TVR Plus software set at mute. It currently displays
    'Volume 100%'.

    Can you help please?

    ==================================================

    The card has 4 ports...

    FM (I assume the antenna)
TV (TV input - works fine)
    S-Video In (Don't know)
    Infa-red (Remote control)

    http://www.conceptronic.net/site/desktopdefault.aspx?tabindex=359&tabid=360&mtid=194

Select the card then 'How to connect this product' to see what (little) details you get.

The instructions simply say "Connect the Audio-Out to the line-in of the sound card".

If the S-Video In doesn't carry the sound, what does?

  6. Are you recording from an S-video or composite source? If that's the case then you need to connect the source to the card via a stereo RCA to stereo mini pinplug cable:

Oops, sorry. What I thought was the audio input was an IR input.

The 9-pin DIN on that card is not a normal s-video input.

    card:

    s-video:

It probably requires a special pigtail with s-video and RCA inputs.

The problem is not recording, it is getting any sound at all. All I want to do is watch TV on my PC.

The sound on my PC works fine. It has a built in sound card.(pictured)

I have been able to install and tune the TV with no problem. I'm just not getting sound with the TV picture. Somehow one of the ports on the TV card needs to be connected to one of the ports pictured. (I assume the black one). The question is how?

  9. Many years ago I had a card with an internal tuner that required the audio be routed to a sound card -- like you are suggesting you need. It had a similar DIN connector and came with a pigtail cable with standard s-video output, RCA compostite output, and a stereo mini pin plug for audio output.

If your card required this it should have come with the cable. I suspect you just have a software issue and don't need a cable.

From this I gather that you are using the composite (yellow "TV" connector) as your input. This cable carries video only, no audio. You should run an audio cable (like I linked to earlier) from your A/V source to the audio inputs on your computer.
