  1. Hey, I have an avi file I'm trying to burn to DVD. I'm using VSO's convertx to DVD. When I play it in regular windows media player, (Version 11), no audio comes out. However, if I watch it in MPC, media player classic, or VLC, it works fine. So I try to burn it to DVD, and the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the video. Any ideas?

No audio in the avi with wmp? or the converted DVD?
HOW do you burn it? with convertxtodvd? or some other tool?

  3. As I mentioned in my post, yes, I'm using convertxtodvd to burn them. And I don't get audio in WMP, but I do get it just fine in MPC. The burned DVD has audio, but it is ahead of the video by about 3 seconds.

Grab gspot to see what's in the avi ... better yet , even thump it with mediainfo , it will tell you what it is as well .

If avi ... it can be opened in vdub , hopefully , no "vbr" error appears .

Set audio and video to direct stream copy .
Under audio , interleaving , audio scew .

Set value required to push audio backwards (-000 value's bring it forward) , so you would enter value , without - , to push it further along .
Try preview for 30 second's or so ... after a minute or so the audio slips ... this is vdub .
If start isnt quite right , adjust value , and preview .
Once it's spot on , save as avi under a new name .
    Convert from there .

  5. Thanks for the info, I'll look into that. It is an AVI, and I'm pretty sure I can open it in vdub. But temporarily, just to let you know, I tried converting it with cucusoft, and it came out in sync just fine. But I'm curious, so I'm going to take a look at it with the stuff you suggested.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I wonder if this can be a problem coming from the media you burnt onto. If the file plays fine with audio in sync (after conversion but) before burning it that means convertxtodvd is doings its job correctly .

If audio if off sync after conversion (without having burnt to dvd) try playing with the option under the settings tab 'audio' "don't check/fix audio discontinuities".

Make sure to download the version 2.1.14 of ConvertXtoDVD (versions prior to that were having compatibility problems with WMP 11 depending on what files were to be converted)

Anyhow would be curious to find out what this is coming from (did you try what Bjs suggested?)

  7. Haven't tried what BJs suggested yet, but I don't think it has anything to do with the media.

I am not testing it after convertxtodvd converts but before it burns. The only times I am testing it is before it even touches convertxtodvd, and then again after it has been burned. I hope that makes sense, so basically, when I throw it into convertxtodvd, I just let it do it's thing and burn it right after. I don't look at it after it converts it, simply becuase I'm sure it's not the media.

And I burn plenty of other movies with the same media (usually Verbatim or Ridata), and have only had this problem with one other file in the past.

It's very odd, becuase there is also no audio at all in WMP 11. But remember, at this point, convertxtodvd hasn't touched it.

    Anyway, thanks for the advice!

I understand better, thanks! It is odd that WMP 11 doesnt give you audio. I hope you find a solution (I dont have any ideas for ya )

  9. Thats ok, thanks for trying! I'm sure I'll figure something out. Like I said, cucusoft seems to be doing it fine. And I only get those files once in a blue moon, so maybe I'll just save cucusoft for just such an occasion.
