Just want some opinions about Windows Media Player 11. Is the new version really better than previous?

I never got to use it. After installing it, I noticed that my ATI All In Wonder TV didn't work any more. I did a system restore and I got the TV back.

  3. I missed WMP10, and went right from WMP9 to WMP11 in my upgrade to Windows Vista.

It seems to be a sleek version of WMP with lots of eye candy. One bug that I noticed was that audio would continue to play after you'd closed down a video file - if you stopped the video then closed WMP it was OK.

Apart from using it for playback, I haven't explored it much. Is there anything specific you'd like tested?

You either love it or not ... apart from that I've had no problem's with it so far .

Not every new version of micro$oft program is obvious improvement of previous version. WMP10 works well for me. Is there some specific features in WMP11 that works better, than in WMP10?
The "improvements" of graphic interface does not matter and make no sense at all. What make sense is new codecs: for example, codecs that allows play MPEG4 (DivX), Xvid in WMP without installing external ones. Plus, more stability, less bugs. The other things is not important.

I find also, that the new IE 7.0 have very inconvenient interface, especially for searching, for printing, all this in right side, etc.
The same thing for Vista, i do no see any necessity for useless "improvements" of graphic interface, it requires huge resources for its senseless graphic. For home and office works, for multimedia, XP Pro is enough.

i've upgraded 3 computers to wmp11 and ALL 3 have this same problem:

when a file is playing, if i right-click another, say an mp3, playback will stop and wmp will consume the cpu. as soon as i click away, it's instantly back to normal... it SUCKS, and has anyone else noticed this crap??

  7. WMP 11 has the same problems with Type-1 DV AVI files as earlier versions.

Certain audio chipsets (especially Crystal Sound) upset things.

Type-2 DV AVIs will play just fine.

Type-1 DV AVIs will play fine in GraphEdit.

On one system with two soundcards, one of them prevented Type-1's from playing in WMP, the other didn't. Disabling the errant soundcard allows the video part to play.

It's a pain if you have a Creative Vision:M, you can't add album art to your albums so I went back to WMP 10.

Could not sort my 1900 music files by year in list form as I could in WMP10. WMP11 looks slick, but ultimately was lacking. I like 10 for my DJ duties.
