hey i have something i want to know about adobe premier 7 to do with cropping and pasting.

some videos i have seen, the editors have been able to cut out a part of a video and paste it on top of other video. but i dont mean joining videos or split screen.

for example when one video has a person moving, and another video has a background. how can you cut out that person walking (in the first video) and place only that person (not the background) in the another video? a clearer example may be pasting an anime character from one series and place them in a different anime series all together so it looks like they are actually in the different series.

this have something something to do with transperant backgrounds? or an outline of a person and then cutting? but its a video and thats where im stuck. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

You film one in front of a green or blue screen, then you use keying filters of software to extract the person from the background, so you can lay them over a new background. If you want to extract them from a complex background then you usually have to rotoscope them out using splines to create mattes. This is done by hand, frame by frame, and is very time consuming.
