    I own TMPGEnc xpress 3. Is upgrading to 4 really worth it? Will the mpg2 files be better quailty?

    Trial it.
    I did.

    Quality is better. Not that you'd notice.
    Main plus to upgrade is h.264 support with mainconcept (good) encoder, and divx support.

    It is improved.
    But if you strictly mpeg2 encode I don't think it's necessary.

    It all depends on what you want to do.

    If you only need MPEG and you already have the AC3 plug-in, you you do not need to upgrade.
