Hi everyone. I am very familiar with backups to single layer discs, I currently use imgburn, dvdshrink, ripi4me. I just purchased a Pioneer 111D dual layer burner and am getting ready to burn my FIRST dual layer back up. Since these discs are pretty pricey I thought I would ask for recommendations on a step by step process using the aforementioned software programs. I have searched the guide section of this site and was unable to find one.
Can I backup from disc to disc without copying to HD? Do I still have to use Shrink, I wouldn't think so but not sure? Also should I change any settings on any of the software or just use the default settings as they are when the software is downloaded?
Thanks everyone and have a great day.

Nope, you don't need to use dvd shrink.
For newer movies with Arccos dvd protection
Rip movie in iso mode using RipIt4Me then burn the img using ImgBurn.
For older movies
DVD Decrypter and rip to iso and burn with ImgBurn.
I wouldn't do any disc to disc backups. -
Baldrick thank you for the info. One question, why not just use ripit4me for both newer and older movies? Is there a reason you recommend dvddecrypter for older movies? Thanks again for your help and advice.
