I just got Windows XP Media Center version 2005 with update rollup 2. Anyways I just found out it is incompatible with my ATi TV Wonder Pro Pci card. ATi MMC 9.0.8 TV program wasn't working in that it the output was not matching audio with video. I can't get the new version because I don't have an ATI graphics card. So I have been searching around for any freeware pvr software and researching the ones you pay at the store for. I like the ATi MMC TV program because they offer a cropping feature which gets rid of the top and bottom interference that I seem to be gettiing when playing my vcr and it is hooked up to my computer. I finally decided on using Windows Media Encoder 9. I didn't understand how to use the cropping feature but it had presets so I used one presets and it turned out to crop too much of my video, however it gave me a good idea of where to start. I got the correct measurements and adjusted other features and captured video from my vcr and it turned out great! So, if you have a fairly new computer with some sort of tv tuner/video capture hardware and are looking for some software that will act as a pvr(personal video recorder) for windows, I recommend Windows Media Encoder 9. If anybody that takes this suggestion and wants to know the settings I used for great output, just reply.

Yeah I just recorded a 1 hour show and 3 movies to my computer using the Windows Media Encoder 9, worked well. By the way, I use asfbin master to cut out commercials and rejoin the files. Good tool for cut and join .wmv and .asf. You can also watch TV on Windows Media Encoder 9. Channels can be switched via the program but it is a bit hard. Might be better to just hook up a vcr to the computer and change channels on the vcr. You can also record TV as well. Cool.
