Best DVD Backing App....?

Sup people i was wondering whats the best app you all think is to back up your dvd's to your hd??? at the moment i use DVD Decrypter which i find easy but i sometimes have some problems with it some error messages come up (i.e. m8 bought film back from india and it wouldn't backup on to my hd for some reason. Iv also used DVDFab Platinum which i find very very annoying loll it takes agesssss to backup as DVD Decrypter dont. Iv also used RipIt4Me which is just totally lol...


I made this thread because i need a new app which will ripp any film i have with out no problem and which dont take like for ever to backup. Can anyone help me find the perfect programme which would let me backup my films with out no problem and backup's very quickly.

P.S. I no it depends on the Film (CD) when it comes 2 the error messages that i can live with but there has to be a fast and better backing up tool then DVD Decrypter, DVDFab Platinum or RipIt4Me...

Have you tried the DVDFeb earlier 2xxxx version which is better than the latest one in some points? I still keep the earlier version and disable the updating. The latest version excludes the AnyDVD but the earlier version does not and seems running faster. The freeware is sufficient to rip the movie into the HDD.

Forget about the DVD Decrypter. I was so frustrated at its error message but the DVDFab Decrypter never. I never download the update or use the platinum version but the earlier freeware version only, downloaded in 2006 and it works very well, easy, handy and fast.

DVDFeb...?? Whats that? or did u mean DVDFab? and if so which version i had problems with the latest (3) was to to tooo slow so now i got DVDFab 2 and going to try that out now so ill let you now how it goes....

The problem with v2 is it won't work on the latest Sony Pictures or LionsGate DVD's,I agree that v3 is slower though.
Make sure to turn on "Ignore all reading errors automatically" otherwise it may loop forever.

Im havin a problem with DVDFab 2 aswell lol this stuff is really starting to get me lilll pee'd off!



Thats the error msg that comes up when i insert my dvd film into my drive this is the gold edition i also tryed the express edition and it had the same problem...

1. Did you rip your DVD to C:\DVDFabPlatimum_Temp\DVD\?

1.1 If not, then you need to rip the DVD to that folder or point to where you ripped it.

1.2 If so, does that folder contain the VIDEO_TS.IFO file?

1.2.1 If not, does the original DVD contain this file?
1.2.1.1 If so, then you need to rerip (you have a corrupted rip).
1.2.1.2 If not, then there are issues with the original DVD.

1.2.2 If so, then that indicates a potential issue with the rip. You might try FixVTS on it.

RipIt4Me has never given me trouble with any of the recent Sony stuff.

It creates a Protected Sectors List that is used by DVD Decrypter in order to successfully rip the DVD to your hard drive. Then, FixVTS automatically steps in and fixes the rip so that it can be properly read by DVD Shrink. Have DVD Shrink create an ISO file when it's done shrinking and that file can be burned to disc by DVD Decrypter.

I'd give that another shot. Try downloading the RipIt4Me Installer file which already includes the latest FixVTS with it.

If you were used to using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink for back-ups in the past, RipIt4Me is an easy transition.

RipIt4Me creates a PSL (Protected Sectors List) that is automatically imported by DVD Decrypter for use during the rip to your hard drive. It then switches over to FixVTS which cleans up the ripped files so they can be read properly by DVD Shrink (or whatever other "shrinking" program you use).

So... Depending on the disc being ripped, if DVD Decrypter can handle it alone, then it will be fastest. If DVD Decrypter cannot handle the disc, RipIt4Me would take a little longer, but you'll get a proper rip.

Comparing the speed of both programs capable of ripping the same DVD, it's only a matter of a few minutes between the two. These few extra minutes are actually FixVTS cleaning up the ripped files on the hard drive.

Just think of RipIt4Me as an "extended version" of DVD Decrypter that automatically incorporates the use of FixVTS after its initial rip.

Im gessing im going to have to stick with DVD Decrypter but i still would love to have a faster ripping tool i no it depends on the dvd but im tlkin about the actually app it self there should be a fast one. I think theres some new app called 1Click does anyone know if that is a better app then dvd decrypter???

If it's taking you 57 minutes to just rip a DVD to your hard drive, there has to be something else going on that is slowing down the process. I only have about 2/3 of the processing power of your computer and half the memory and rips to my hard drive only take about 15 minutes tops using RipIt4Me.

Unless the disk is damage in which case ripping speeds can slow down to .1x or less until you get past the bad parts.

Hi, I tried the RipIt4Me and have the following problems. I downloaded and saved it in the desktop and then clicked Run. It was not installed but you have to click Run again next time. 1) Can this software be installed after downloading and how? 2) I saw the Find FixVTS window displayed after reading. What does it mean? What should be filled in as the File name in the Find FixVTS window? 3) Can the movie be copied into the removable disc instead of the HDD and how?

If you don't already have FixVTS installed, your best bet would be to install the "RipIt4Me Installer". It already includes the latest version of FixVTS. But, yeah, you might want to read the guide first.

It was the latest version 1.6.9.0 that I downloaded. Do you mean the version 1.6.9.0 has already included the RipIt4Me installer and FixVTS or they should be downloaded additionally?

Go to the section near the top that has a note about having installation issues.

Make sure you have the latest DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink already installed.

The "note" on the download page answers your question:
"use the RipIt4Me installer (1.1 Mb), which installs RipIt4Me, the RipIt4Me help file, FixVTS and all the language string files."

My guess: because RI4M is a "front-end" program for the already existing DVD Decrypter & Shrink, and they need to be installed separately for RI4M to be able to use them. RI4M is relatively new, compared to those programs. Links to those programs (if you didn't already have them) are included at the RI4M site.

It really is just a matter of following the instructions.
