Hello. A brand newbie here. I have recently purchased Honestech's VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe software and follow the menu in what seems to be a very simple procedure. I am able to view an entire 2 hour home video on my monitor and it appears to be captured properly, but after the burn, the new DVD plays for exactly 2:53 and ends. I have done this 4 times on DVD-R and DVD+R discs with the same 2:53 frustrating result. Honestech will not answer my requests for help. Any ideas?

if the movies you've watched are only 2 hours, why are the discs playing for almost 3 hours anyway?
how big are the files that your software is creating
what program are you burning with? have you tried burning your vide files with a different program?
    what media are you using?
have you checked the following page for help/info? https://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=Honestech&Submit=Search&s=&orderby=Name&hits...uthorfeatures=

    I suspect 2:53 is 2 minutes 53 seconds....NOT hours.

Anyway, copy the contents of one of the discs to your HD. Then open the disc (from the HD) using DVDShrink and use DVDShrink to backup the disc. See if the new disc works.

I thought about buying a video capture/editing/recording package like this. But poor reviews put me off.

In the end, I spent a bit more and went for a VHS / DVD dubbing machine, the Sony RDRVX420G. It makes perfect copies from VHS tapes, and can also do so from a camcorder.
