So the problem is audio on my burned dvds.
The video is fine for what it is.

I have "cracking" during I suppose the higher range sounds of the audio.

Google video is the worst with this problem.

    ----------------------------------------------
I use Any Video Converter v1.21 to go flv to mpg.
(the default option for NTSC dvds:
    audio codenc - ac3
    audio bitrate - 128
    audio sample rate - 48000
    audio channel - 2)
It says .mpg but some programs(Nero) view it as .avi - I don't know......

Then I use Nero Vision Express 3 to burn
    ------------------------------------------------

When checking for this problem before the burn (on the .mpg) my video players do not have this problem, but when I use Nero and near the end of the wizard there is a video player to test what the final dvd will play like. The audio problem is present on the Nero player.

I do have the older versions of Any Video Converter which supposedly allow changes in the audio bitrate and have tried up to 400. same problem.

Is this just a volume issue?
The DVD volume level is sounds normal on the TV.

I am open to better software if you peeps are doing flv to dvds and are not having audio issues.

    Any help is appreciated.

*Wasn't sure if this was for the Conversion board or the Audio board. Please move it accordingly for me. But I am a newbie so you can leave it here too :P

Basically, Nero sucks for video conversion. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Your best bet is to find a different better conversion tool. The most popular tool at the moment seems to be ConvertX2dvd. Or get a dvd player that will play avi and raw mpeg files and save time converting and use fewer dvd's.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Any advice for fixing Nero?

convertx2dvd is a burning program? I clicked the link but don't really understand what it does other than convert. Should I use this to convert then use Nero to burn?

The link tells you what it can do.....It converts your single files into a compliant DVD Video set of files and burns it on a DVD media. Supports switchable subtitles from srt,sub/idx.

Another option is to use FLVextract http://www.moitah.net/download/latest/FLV_Extract.zip

It will demux the audio and video from the flv file. The audio is mp3, so you can open it up in Audacity and clean it up, saving the file to Stereo WAV format

    I agree, ConvertXtoDVD is great

So is my problem Nero or Any Video Converter?

I actually tried using AVC to convert an AVI to AVC's DVD format. (I know unnecessary but just tried it)
And I got the same problem.

Someone on here has got to be using the same combo as I am.

Please point me to some good freeware!!!

    @Soopafresh

Do I use FLVextract then Audacity then Nero?

Well, I'll go and try and report back.
    Hope it's all freeware.

    Thanks.

Yes, all freeware. But I do agree that ConvertXtoDVD would work best. Worth a few $ for the ease of use.

You can even record the audio in audacity while it's playing , and slice it back to the video later ... I do this with podcast's .

But with FLVs, you can always just demux the audio anyway with FLV Extract.

Here you go, this batch file will create a 2 track 48000hz normalized WAV file from your flv, which means that you can use it as the audio track for your DVD encode.

    The only rule:

The flv name can't have spaces in it:

    Bad: My File.flv
    Good: My_File.flv

The WAV will be named OriginalFile.flv.WAV

    Instructions:

Download and unzip to its own folder.

    http://www.bestsharing.com/files/aeohwrl225497/FLV_Audio.zip.html

Place your flv files into the same folder

    Double Click on FLV_Audio.bat
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Afterwards, you can still load the resulting WAV into Audacity if you want to EQ the sound further, but this automatic method doesn't sound bad at all.

If you want to convert the entire flv into an "uncompressed" AVI file (actually Huffyuv) for fast Mpeg2 encoding, let me know - it's an easy fix to the batch file. However, It needs tons of temporary disk space if you decide to go that route -
10GB for every hour of flv

    Thanks for the replies!

Well, I went a different route. Mostly because I didn't want to spend any money just to get FLVs on my TV.

I used Super to convert into DIVX. I went with all defaults and then clicked the normal DIVX format (all divx players).
Cracking audio problem is now gone.

The problem was Any Video Converter's audio converter I guess.
    Anyway, problem solved.
Any other tips would be welcome.
