I apologize for my ignorance. I searched how to's and I feel like because I don't know what I have I need to ask for help. I downloaded a dvd from internet (not copyrighted, not protected) from a website. Now I have these files and I am not sure what to do with them or what type they are my guess is VOB are video files.

    I have :
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_02_0.BUP
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB

these are the files that make up the first disc. What I would like to do is not necessarily burn them to DVD but convert them to MP4 to watch on my Ipod. I understand from my research that I also might need to merge them in some way so they play end to end (that is if I am understanding correctly) Because I don't really know what the extentions are or the file types I am lost. Again I know I must seem really dumb, but this is totally new to me. In the past when I have downloaded a dvd the file has been a complete file that played immediately on my computer as a movie. And I attempted to convert that as well using SUPER and AVS Video Tools. Didn't have any luck with that either but at least the starting file made more sense to me Thanks in advance for any help you can offer it is greatly appreciated, as you can see I need education

If you just wanted to convert them to one large MPEG, then try VOB2MPG. Then you could input that MPEG to your converter program. That's probably the easiest. With VOB2MPG, they need to output to a different drive than they are presently stored on, at least if I try to go to a folder on the same drive as the files, it doesn't work.

If they are complete and in a VIDEO_TS folder, then you could also burn them directly to a DVD with ImgBurn. For an explanation of what they are, see 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page for the DVD specifications and format.

There are other ways, but VOB2MPG is very simple. But you will need the .net framework. For other programs to convert to portable formats, see: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=36#36 You may find one there that suits you better.

    And welcome to our forums.
