The new iPod 5.5 supports baseline 3.0 but I have yet to feel the need to encode something with a baseline greater than 1.3 (or is that 1.1? I don't remember).
What are the differences between these two baselines, anyway? Will a video with an aspect ratio of 320x240 using baseline 3.0 be better than one using baseline 1.3?

At such low resolutions and bitrates, I doubt it.

I Believe if you check again you will find that the iod will do up to baseline 1.3 not 3.0.
See http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html . This is ASP or ISO mpeg 4, not in AVC or H264 mpeg 4. Sorry. -
Hi,
AFAIK baseline 3.0 is recommended for the higher 640x480 resolution, have you encoded 320x240 at that baseline profile?? SUPER encodes the iPod 640x480 with a 1.3 baseline so go figure, what seems to be more important is no CABAC, no B-frames and special "atoms" in the .mp4 muxer.
