  1. The new iPod 5.5 supports baseline 3.0 but I have yet to feel the need to encode something with a baseline greater than 1.3 (or is that 1.1? I don't remember).

    What are the differences between these two baselines, anyway? Will a video with an aspect ratio of 320x240 using baseline 3.0 be better than one using baseline 1.3?

    I Believe if you check again you will find that the iod will do up to baseline 1.3 not 3.0.
    See http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html . This is ASP or ISO mpeg 4, not in AVC or H264 mpeg 4. Sorry.

    Hi,
    AFAIK baseline 3.0 is recommended for the higher 640x480 resolution, have you encoded 320x240 at that baseline profile?? SUPER encodes the iPod 640x480 with a 1.3 baseline so go figure, what seems to be more important is no CABAC, no B-frames and special "atoms" in the .mp4 muxer.
