  1. For Windows. I see there is Cinelerra, but it apparently only runs on Linux.

I would want to keep the video in the same container/codec, just be able to edit it (cut segments) and write it back out losslessly. I don't mind limiting my cuts to Key Frames (which it appears are pretty far apart).

I assume that's not Ogg audio with a Xvid video? Since you mention Theora and Vorbis, likely not. That's what I run into most often.

This is still apparently the premier site for Theora and Vorbis: http://www.xiph.org/ If you haven't been there, maybe worth a look.

  3. MediaInfo gives me this (among other things) when I mouse over one of the files in question:

    General #0
    Format: Ogg

    Video #0:
    Codec: Theora
    Width: 384
    Height: 288
    Aspect Ratio: 4/3
    Frame Rate: 12.5fps
    Writing Library: Xiph.Org libTheora I 20060526 3 2 0

    Audio #0:
    Codec: Vorbis
    Channel(s): 2 channels
    Sampling Rate: 22 KHz
    Writing Library: Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20050304

Nothing but Linux-based stuff at Xiph.org.

Other than the various command line tools, I can't think of anything for windows that supports ogg video.

Assuming the proper directshow filters are installed, you could run the file through Virtualdub with AviSynth (directshowsource) and make your segment cuts there. You still might be left with the problem of lossless output in the Theora format from there. VirtualDub could do a "direct stream copy" and will output to the OGM container. Could that not work - or at least be renamed to OGG afterwards? It's highly probable that I'm missing something here. The office coffee maker crapped on us this morning.

Excuse my inexperience with mixing Virtualdub and AviSynth with Theora.

AVISynth means raw video. ffdshow can output theora, but that means re-encoding.

Do you know if any of those command-line tools allow breaking a single video up into smaller pieces? Split at a given timecode perhaps? I could get by with just that capability.
