Just installed ConvertXtoDVD and it doesn't recognize the avi files i have saved to my desktop. No problem with mpgs. Is there a setting I missed. A codec I need? Please advise.

Drop one of them into Gspot 2.60 and it will tell you if you have the right codecs and which ones are needed.

Okay, thanks. I did that and no new codecs are required. This is the first time I am using ConvertXtoDVD.

    Huffyuv codec by any chance?

    Do you have ffdshow installed?

Give us some details and we'll find an answer. As ConvertXtoDVD is based on ffmpeg, the supported and non supported codecs will be almost identical.

Not sure where you downloaded your version from, but I don't seem to have that file as part of my ConvertXtoDVD installation. Did you download yours from VSO's website ?

Didn't mean to confuse the matter. I think the error file refers to the nero 7 that I previously had installed. It popped up when I tried to use canopus pro coder. I though I might run my avi file through procoder to see it helped convertXtoDVD identify my avi.
To answer your question, I downloaded ConvertXtoDVD from VSO's site.

I am running a test now. I converted my avi in procoder to avi-dv. and it appears convertXtoDVD has accepted it for conversion.
We are awaiting the conversion to complete and start the burn

I have tried several procoder settings of my avi's to obtain a DVD from convertXtoDVD that will play on my consumer DVD player. No success yet. I really need to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once the avi is accepted by ConvertXtoDVD, then you can stop wasting time converting it again. It will have no influence over the output from ConvertXtoDVD from that point. If the disc isn't playing then you need to look at things. How are you burning it ?
