Is there an audio filter for virtualdub that will batch normalise .avi files. Reason: I video jockey and i have approx. 1500 music video clips (.avi video / mp3 audio), problem is that they are all set at different sound levels.

If not, could you please suggest a programme that might do the job, please. It would be an advantage also if i could set audio equaliser the same for all files.

Last but not least, at times when i convert from mpg to avi the audio has the odd clipping sound, any advice greatly appreciated.

Yes Look at the second post in this thread:

The other option is to apply normalization/limiting/eq during playback. Winamp and Foobar both have support for VST plugins, which means you can make the files sound any way you wish during playback.

Audio clipping almost always is the result of some setting being pushed too far. You'll need to provide more info - what program are you using to convert from Mpeg to AVI ? Post a clip of the sound somewhere.

i mean 352 x 240, the editing i do to the music video files is to get rid of logos. i use either de-logo, cropping or resizing.

And the Mpeg you give to the magic video converter does NOT sound distorted? But when you convert it to AVI, it does?

Oi, press the "edit" button when you want to post more info on these boards rather than creating a bunch of posts from you all in a row. You'll avoid the wrath of mod

Cool. Thanks. Okay, let's try an experiment. Download the following app: (one moment, please)

    http://tirnanog.fate.jp/mirror/mplayer/gmplayer2006.12.26.P4.7z

That's a self contained media player. Try playing your converted AVI with it. Is it still distorted sounding ?

I'm going to post an example mpeg file for you to convert to AVI. Then, post the converted AVI file somewhere so I can have a listen, mkay ?
