  1. Hi,

i have a single .vob file which i would like to play on dvd player but i cannot burn it in Nero's DVd-video cause they say too big for ISO. when i try to manually create in UDF a video_ts and burn it, it doesn't play on my player either

I'm sure the dvd is working fine because i get to choose chapters n' such when playing it with VLC

    what should i do?

    thanks

You need to author, try TDA, Ifoedit or ReJig.

  3. Also, Say with Nero i burn a DVd-Video file (ie contain Audio_ts & Video_TS).

Can i also put other data folders in it? if i were to play the video in the dvd player would the other non-video files affect the viewing? Is it advisable to do so?

    thanks

dvdauthorgui, add the vob and output. Burn then the video_Ts folder with Nero.

if you want a nice menu use tmpgenc dvd author, click on it for guides.

use VOB2MPG to demux the video/audio from the VOB, then author with these instead.

As for adding data - you can create a new folder at the same level as the video_ts folder. It can be called pretty much anything you like, and you can put anything in it you need to. It is not advisable to put data or folders in the video_ts folder.

    hi,

does it mean i have to convert it to .mpg, then later convert it to .vob?

i think that would take eons to convert on my slow pc, lol

It isn't a conversion process, and shouldn't take more than 5 - 10 minutes on your system

The VOB contains an MPEG and perhaps some other things (like subtitles). Demuxing is almost as fast as just copying the file. It's not transcoding, as converting from AVI to MPEG, the video isn't processed at all.

  11. thanks, is there any software that can do the same that doesn't require a .NET framework(don't wish to install that)?

  12. Open the Vob in DGIndex. Go File->Save Project and Demux Video. That will give you the M2V Video, the Audio (AC3, probably), but no subs. They will then be ready to author (if DVD compliant) using just about any authoring program.

Demux your VOB with ReJig in IFO mode, then load the 2 files into DVDauthorGUi, easy.

This site does have a tools section (see menu to your left) and in it a separate list for multiplexers and demultiplexers. Have a look at pgcdemux or rejig as alternatives.

IFO mode only works if you have an IFO....

But if you use Rejig's "File" mode you can demux a naked VOB.

You can then click its "DVDAuthor" mode and build a complete VIDEO_TS folder ready to burn.
This must be about the simplest way, for single title, no menu.

  17. thanks guys, i couldn't figure out how to demx in rejig so i did it in DGindex. i followed the easiest suggestion and opened it in REjig's dvdauthor after demuxing. to have a menu, i suppose i have to learn authoring. is it difficult to learn it?

the problem is that the dvd spec allows for vob files that are a maximum of 1 gig each. how did you end up with a 3.5 gig vob? the reason i'm asking is because it might give a clue as to how to undo it.

  19. deadrats: thats a good qn! haha, but i have no ans for it because i downloaded it from torrent.

btw, i tried running the video, it HAS NO SOUND = (
i am trying to use DVDauthorGUI but get this error :

Process aborted due to above error
    Error code #5
There was an error in multiplexing the titles. One of the m2v files has 'end sequence codes' in it that must be removed in order for it to multiplex correctly. This could be caused by an mpeg joining program or something similar. Use restream to remove these 'end sequence codes'. (http://shh.sysh.de/restream.html) Please review the log for more detailed information.

  20. Sometimes if I don't have IFO I just use dvd2one. It creates new ones.

If you're talking about the M2V that DGIndex created, it's not supposed to have sound. It's only video. You'll get sound after authoring.

Use restream to remove these 'end sequence codes'.

Open the M2V in ReStream, and in the lower left corner is the check box for Sequence End Codes. Uncheck the box and rewrite the stream. Then try authoring again.

PS to Baldrick's suggestion to use DvdAuthorGui -

I'm using version 1.009, and it accepts Mpeg Elementary Streams,
    AND
"Mpeg with NAV packets ( VOB, mpg, mpeg) "

Does your version not include "vob" as an option, or is it that it can't open your file?

You got an error using ReStream? Then I'd say your video is corrupt and fit only for the Recycle Bin. You might try and author using Muxman (adding just the M2V and the AC3 audio), and see if the log (found afterwards in the root of the C Drive) gives you any additional information if it can't complete the mux either.
