    I have searched on this question for a while but not found anything. Is there a program out there - freeware or cheap - that will let me convert a dvd movie into vcd or svcd in one step? or almost one step? I am not concerned about menus, multilanguage tracks, trailers, etc. I just want the movie and music and audio track.

    Sorry for the late reply, but I only recently found this forum. In any case, if you are on a Windows machine, use EazyVCD. There is an older version which is free, and a newer version which is low cost shareware. It is very easy to use, and produces good results if all you are looking for is basic conversion, as you seem to be. No extra audio tracks, no subtitle support, but it gets the job done otherwise.
