  1. Hello everyone.

I'm following this HOWTO ("HOW TO MAKE A DVD WITH SELECTABLE SUBTITLES ON MAC OSX WITH FFMPEGX") going with the "DVD ffmpeg" preset, and all I end up with are three files:

    1. TITLE.mpv
    2. TITLE.ac3
    3. TITLE.mpg

Don't know if it's of any use but the MPV and MPG files can be played with VLC, but the subtitles are nowhere to be found (I'm not given the option to choose the subtitle from the respective menu either). Also neither the MPV nor the MPG files can be played by QuickTime.

What gives? Where are the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  2. Click the blue "i" button in the Progress window and post the end of the output messages, to see if you got any error messages which could explain the above.

  3. Ugh, figured it out. I wouldn't leave the task complete; I thought it should be closed when the progress bar reaches 100%, but apparently that's not the case.

A question though, am I supposed to be left with all of these files when the task is done?

    1. TITLE.MPV
    2. TITLE.AC3
    3. TITLE.MPG
    4. TITLE.MPG.DVD (Folder)

I know I only need item (4), but I'm wondering if the rest of the files should be auto-deleted by themselves when the task is done.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Test the output by opening the video_ts folder in Apple DVD Player. Then burn to disc and test on your set top player. Then throw away files.
Some omissions can be fixed without encoding all over again, in those cases it would be handy to still have the temporary elementary stream files.

  5. OK, so it's normal for these files not to be deleted then I guess, eh?

    Got it, thanks!
