    I have a 8x speed NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A burner that I know the firmware is out of date because every time I put in a 16x blank dvd nero rejects it. Memorex doesn't make 8x dvd discs anymore. Not that I know of because I can't find them in stores anywhere. I've never upgraded my firmware before and I know that it is dangerous if you don't do it right. Can anyone help me?

    Any help would be grateful.

    This is the Binflash utility. You still need firmware but I don't have a clue which is best for your drive. If I were you i'd wait until somebody on this forum advises you.

    Follow the link and flash your NEC 2510 to firmware 2.0a. I would recommended the 2.0a RPC1 version.

    btw- if you browse OfficeMax shelves, you may still find 50 disc cakeboxes of 8X housebrand DVDs. They work quite well for me.
