I am having trouble adding different songs to different slides in my slideshow. I can only get one song to play during the whole show. Is there a way to make add more so I can have certain music with certain slides? Help.....

Who is dvdgui ?
That really depend's on each slide's time length .
You need to match the audio's time length for each slideshow involved ... convert the audio to wav and use audacity to shrink or stretch it out if it's only a fraction out .
From here it depend's on the product used to put it all together .
Tool's that can do this :
Dvdauthorgui
Dvdslideshowgui
Ulead videostudio
Tda
Nero vision xpress (if video is compliant , disable re-encode feature)
You might want ac3 ... besweet for that .
==========
You could also create a similar project where each slide include's extra audio stream's ... so you dont alway's need to playback the stock audio file ... but that's another story ... -
I am a little confused. I have been doing the following to add music to the slideshow:
Highlight Slide(picture)
Click preset button
Click music
Browse until I find my mp3
click open
After doing this, the mp3 is applied to the whole slideshow, not just that slide(picture). If I highlight another pic and repeat the same process with a different mp3, the previous mp3 will change also... -

I am a little confused
What program is it your using to create the slideshow ???
====================
The problem istrouble adding different songs to different slides in my slideshow
===================
You want a different mp3 for each slide ... not slideshow ... I see .
That's a pain in the ... and not possible the way your thinking about it ... in any program used .
The problem is the picture's are encoded to suite the length of the audio file chosen whether the slideshow use one or more picture's ... in your case , what ever program it is your currently using , dose not allow this exchange of audio , and almost none do .
It is possible to perform such a function , but aligning photo's for each mp3 as a combined project is almost impossible ... that is to say , picture one displays and tune 1 is played , then picture two is displayed and plays tune 2 dose work .
As you can see ... each picture in this case would need to be displayed for the entire length of each mp3 ... which work's , but I would find this a very distastefully practice ... especially considering new lcd's and plasma screen's still have burn in issue's .
=============================
This can be pulled off by creating a dvd slideshow which use's multiple audio track's (vcd is a little more limited)... Though the navigational structure could be deemed quite complicated for most to understand .
I would direct you attention to this guide for a partial reference : https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=296748

Oh ... I do apologize ... I just noted your a complete newbie .
Having said that , I would think dvdslideshow would be the better tool for your project , and has a similar type of setup as used by ssmm as associated with one of the guide's I created ... just the appropriate feature's are in different place's .
These then could be combined afterward's , and just depend's on the final requirement .
You could use dvdauthorgui to create a dvd slideshow of sorts from the output ... or vcdeasy , or even nero ... it just depend's on what the final requirement is ... for pc / server side / cd / dvd / even screen saver ... but then I dont know because that wasnt included in the question .
As with everything else ... you only need to ask if you get stuck , and I'll help you out . -
Well I'll be darned if the subject of the post has changed ... now we are on the right track .
I looked it up , and what a funny little tool that dvdgui is ... but it's own a baby at the moment .
As the subject header now relate's to dvdslideshowgui ... and oh my god ... yike's ... playlist's ... that isnt as simple as it seem's ... not really for newbies .
I can pull such stunts off , but the guide would literally blow the mind of anyone who has not had a lot of experience in this practice .
These are definitely not for the "faint of heart" ... one screwup along the process chain , and you start from scratch .
And require's besweet , dvdslideshowgui , dvdauthorgui , pgcedit , to complete the task , and in that order .
Just making a note for "write guide you numb nut" -
Good lord ... hold on a sec ... I have to confirm a couple of things for this as there isnt a half decent guide or mentioning on how to do this with dvdauthorgui .
I have to write another guide on this ... note to self ... that's going to drive me nuttso .
You need to other small tool's : audacity and syncview .
==========
For now , the problem could be related to "multiple mp3's" ... if they are the same frequency and bitrate , then all's well ... not sure if gspot can help you determine that or not ... man ... have I been a busy critter lately .
But for now we need to convert those mp3's to wav , with an output frequency of 48khz ... the simplest tool to use would be audacity .
Create a new folder on C drive called bjshelp .
Now open the first mp3 in audacity .
In lower left corner of program is "project rate (hz)"
Change that one so it reads "48000"
Now File , Export As , Wav
You will save each converted mp3 out in the same manner to BJSHELP folder .
When you open the next mp3 , audacity will open a new instance of the program ... close the one behind this new window .
When done ... you will have completed the mp3 conversion .
===================
What you need to do now is to work out the order of the picture's to include in SLIDE1 .
Remember that each slide becomes the total time of the audio track which will eventually be included ... it can be the reverse
When working in dvdslideshowgui , you must take into account , the time of any transition you may want to include , as this can affect the outcome .
The audio can be made to fit , provided it's not more than a couple of seconds either way .
Now of course you can use a single picture ... but that would even drive me nutt's eventually ... I may be approaching 40 ... but I ain't gone senile yet .
I would probably use no less than 5 or even 8 picture's for each slide , set up the amount of time each picture is displayed for , and use the transitions to add up in total so it come's close to the wav time that you wish to include later .
So , as an example :
Wav = 2.3 minutes
5 pictures included
Transition between each picture .
2.3 x 60 = 138 seconds div by 5 pictures = 27.6
So we have a choice of using as a rough estimate of 20 seconds for picture display , and roughly 8 seconds for transition effect .
By my calculations this would cause the audio to shrink in time length of about 2 seconds ... which isn't to shabby .
As you can see , there's a bit of math's thinking involved so we don't upset too much in the way of the audio's length ... a couple of seconds dosent really matter .
This is where you have some work cut out for you ... you need to decide .
Each slide's composition .
Do the math's involved .
Output file ... change to mv2 only ... to BJSHELP folder only .
You could do this process using ssmm , but it has a habit of appearing to crash under xp ... the file still works , but it only output's as avi ... which would require encoding to mpeg .
================
When slide one is completed .
Go into BJSHELP folder .
Create a new folder called Sd1 .
Place the slide mv2 here .
And place the wav file for slide one here as well .
Now the fastest way of getting these two to match up is by using syncview .
Its got me stuffed how people dont understand how to use this tool well .
So for the quick and dirty guide
================
Syncview :
A: Launch syncview .
B: Where it say's video , double click the area .
C: Select the m2v for slide one ... now in c:\bjshelp\sd1
D: Repeat step for audio ... again , the wav is in the same folder as slide one's folder as above .
E: Tool's , Export wav audio to file .
F: Resizing tab .
G: Select "match video length" and "by expanding encoding rate to ?????"
H: Hit "run tool"
Tada ... number one's audio is now the same length as it's m2v component .
Rather simple .
===============
Back with the rest later ... 12 hours or so -
Good golly mis molly, that is some writeup. Thanks a lot for the help. I will try this and get back to you. Thanks again.

If you want to use DVD slideshow GUI and add more pieces of music/naration at specific points of the slideshow here's what I think you should do:
Export your slideshow as avi from DVDsGUI.
Import the slideshow as avi into DubIt (get it here - it's free)
Now you can set the slider at the specific point you want to add music/record naration in DubIt.
When you have the sound as you want it in DubIt, you select "File/Split/Save audio as..." and save the sound file as wav.
In DVDsGUI under "Presets/Music" you add this new wav soundfile to your slideshow and export it to whatever fileformat you want.
Now your music/naration should be in sync with your slideshow.
Have fun,
