If I have DivX Player, would I be able to watch .avi movie by simply burning it on to a Disc in "Data Format"?
If not, please tell me how

Yes, all you have to do is burn them as data.
However they must comply with any encoding constraints the player has, including maximum resolution, maximum bitrate, qpel and GMC settings. The player manual will tell you what these are, as they vary from player to player.Read my blog here.

so are you saying that once I have all the requirements to the DivX Player, I can watch it through the player as Data.
Now, my other question is: if I have a .avi movie and some requirements to the player are not met, how can I fix it? :P -
By reencoding your source file to meet the requirements. Easiest don e with AutoGK (set to standalone compatibility mode).
