  1. I made the mistake of getting all of the new XP updates, including the UPS update. Everything is working great. But, when I try to power down, it restarts everytime. I can't find the stupid driver to get things right again. Power management does not help either. Anyone?

  2. ok there are 2 possibilities

this is as of win98. I have never used winxp so i hope this is of relevance to you.

    1-
    I hope u have this-
go to start, run, type in msconfig then press enter
    click the advanced tab.

In this window, make sure diasble fast shutdown IS checked.
If there is no advanced tab, try and find this window in there.

    2-
go into msconfig and click on the startup tab.

In there, when a pc restarts instead of shuting down is caused by a program or driver not shutting down when u choose to shut down.

thats why i mentioned the above first.
Now, in this startup tab, uncheck EVERYTHING that is of no importance.
    Here is how to tell-
everything in here except for a couple of things is loaded as a little icon on bottom right hand screen next to the clock.

I know the following is NEVER needed-
Load power profile, taskmon, anything to do with video card or monitor, any program made by microsoft or a 3rd party company like microsoft word or any prog u have dl such as aim msn yahoo aol and so on
Keep ALL system files in such as anything in the windows or windows\system dir unless its taskmon or load power profile
    ShiZZZoN PzN

Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one.

  3. Press and hold the power key in for 5 seconds, the computer will automatically turn itself off. Didn't know if you knew this, better that than leaving it on forever.
