Other than convert files from w/ TMPGenc 4, I don't do anything cpu intensive. Is there a reason to upgrade to Vista? I rather not, but I want a faster system and most of them only come in Vista...

I guess I will have to read a few more reviews, but my suspicion is that some of the slowdown is the 'protection' built in. It seems I can't even click on a icon without Vista popping up a security warning. I'm to the point of turning off whatever warning systems I can.
I would also recommend to wait a while before upgrading. There may be some mods out there in the near future to speed it up and make it less 'in your face.'
