To date I have been completely unsuccessful at creating a VCD, SVCD or miniDVD that will play in my Toshiba SD2109C standalone. I have tried every recommended CD-R(W) to no avail. My DVD player can however read all of the CD-R(W)'s burned with audio just not with video. I have tried the miniDVD sample from this site as well as used SpruceUp. If my DVD player can read CD-R(W) burned with audio, should it not also be able to read the video?
I would extremely appreciate any help offered.

I got this problem with my Toshiba SD-1200. It would play an audio CD from a certain kind of CD but not a VCD. There are CD formats that will work with the player with VCD though. How does this make sense? No idea.

What are the VCD formats that work though? I have already made quite a few coasters trying to find out... According to some people, it is possible with this player.
-
i would start with the most basic of VCDs - 1150kbps CBR, 352x240 NTSC, 29.97fps, audio 44.1khz, 192kbps on CD-RW media...

one more thing, if you're using TMPGEnc, make sure the system stream type is "Video CD MPEG-1 standard" not the "auto" setting...

Thanks Hitechjunkie, however I was still unsuccessfulwith those settings that you recommended. Do you or anyone else know what the proper settings are for DVD? I'm hoping that because I can read burned audio CD's I should be able to burn a DVD compliant video, hopefully.

I was recently reading in another forum about how some DVD standalone players will check the type of media first (ie. if a cd-r(w) is recognized, the player expects to see audio data). Is there a way to modify the DVD players firmware or some other kind of work-around solution to this problem so it checks the data on the cd as opposed to checking what media the cd is?
