ok, I have an xvid. I save audio as WAV with vdub, then use tmpgenc to convert wo mpeg (using the .avi and the .wav as the sources). The resultant mpeg is out of sync. I use soundforge to timestretch to the correct length. then I enode the stretched wav to mp3 (which plays at the correct speed...) and use tmpeg mpeg tools to multiplex the mpg and mp3 together. the final mpg plays really fast. the audio sounds like chipmunks on speed and the video seems like its going at 10x. I can't figure out what the problem is with the final multiplex that makes it do this. any ideas?

When you saved out the audio as a WAV, did you use full audio processing? Did the Xvid have MP3 VBR audio? I use VirtualDub Mod most of the time as I like how it handles audio better than the regular VD.
If I am converting a Xvid to a DVD, I just save out the WAV with full audio processing, then convert that WAV to AC3 with ffmpeggui. I encode just the video with TMPGEnc, usually by frameserving directly from VD Mod. Then when I author with TMPGEnc DVD Author, I add the converted MPEG-2 video and the AC3 audio and I don't have to go through the muxing. I don't use TMPGEnc for audio conversions.
A simpler alternative is to use ConvertXToDVD for Xvid to DVD. It will handle most VBR audio. If it doesn't, you can mux the WAV back with the video in VD Mod and it will accept that.
And welcome to our forums. -
Is that a typo ?
and use tmpeg mpeg tools to multiplex the mpg and mp3 together
That should be mp2 ... shouldnt it be ? ... I'm pretty sure mp3 is not for mpg / mpeg ... but I have been so busy helping users with pgcedit project's ... my mind is fried for the night .
Unless tmpgenc choked on the conversion of the mp3 to suite the required output ... which happen's often .
