Problems with Nero burning vcd and xvcd

Since adaptec version 3,5 does not suppoert vcd I downloaded Nero 5.5xxx.Problem is that it corrupts the mpeg file!The "converted"mpeg file(DAT)will not play very well it is blocky distorted at the top of the picture and lower part is black.Tried to convert the DAT file back to mpeg and same picture showed.Try to sw play at my pc but same fault.The mpeg file was converted from DV to mpeg by Pinnacle and then into xvcd and vcd by TMaGENc.Any solutions?It goes with the story to tell that a adaptec svcd template found here, was burned fine and no problem on my pc.My dvd wouldnt play it though,just berely jerking away..

Try saving the DV as AVI, then convert in TMPGEnc using the standard VCD template. At that point, view the MPEG file on ypur PC to confirm it is working. Nero should then be able to burn that to a VCD with no problem. Then confirm that your PC can play the VCD before trying a set top player.

The thing is;that the mpeg file looks normal before I burn it.But trying to play it afterwards from the cd,either software on my pc OR with my dvd player its corrupted.Trying to use my pc to convert the dat file back to mpeg gives the same fault.
