hi ,
i have lots of video files, and i place the view on "thumbnail view".. but the majority of the video thumbnail is just a black screen because the videos start with a black screen for perhaps... 1-2 seconds..
is there a way i can change the thumbnail and perhaps choose a position in the video where i can set as the thumbnail picture or add a .jpg picture to be the thumbnail of the video file ?
thanks.

Not easily.
When XP creates a thumbnail, it simply uses the appropriate codec to decode the first frame.
It is possible to write your own thumbnail providers to override the built-in behaviour. I'm not aware of any that have been written....John Miller
