    Hello all,

I'm using RADTools to convert MOV to DivX (AVI) files, it's working fine but the sound is not converted.

Is there a way to convert the sound using RADTools or what is the best (easiest) way to extract the sound from the MOV and then reimport it into the DivX ?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello again,

I could use radtools to convert the mov to avi (xvid gives me better conversion rate than divx 651).

Now I have the avi file and the wav file which i've extracted from radtools and I'd like to merge them to get the sound back in.

I"ve tried ffmpeg with the frontends and it doesn't work...

I've tried with virtualdub but the sound is garbled after the merging just like when I encode the complete mov file with radtools.

I've tried to find a guide to merge wav and avi but I couldn't...

    Thanks for the help

Nope, AVIMUX gives me the same thing as the others, video with crappy sound....

My wav file is mono, 7875Hz, 63Kbps (info given by avimux)

Didn't you say that you had a WAV that sounded OK when played on it's own?

Well, then take that and convert it to something that is NORMAL! Sorry, but mono, 7875Hz, 63kbps isn't normal. Since you've already lost LOTS of quality (if that IS the actual specs of your audio file), just use a good audio editing app to make it 16bit, mono, 22k, 64kbps (which is close to what you've got, but at least STANDARDIZED/SUPPORTED) MP3 file. Mux that in. Should work now.

The wav plays fine and it's extracted from the .mov original file (taken with a nikon digital camera).

I can change the wave format and give it a try...

How was it "extracted"? What app--QTPro?, RadTools? something else? That could very well make a difference (you could be getting it in compromised form right off the bat)...

    (That's what I thought...I knew there was a reason I didn't trust RadTools)

Before converting from MOV, see what QT or QTPro says the audio info is supposed to be...
My guess is that it's meant to be something else.

Otherwise, it sounds like this file is one of those MP4Cam/CellphoneCam jobs (although mine does simple MPG4/MP3/AAC so it's easy to convert). Maybe you should start from scratch with converting with MP4Cam2AVI (whatever that tool is).

Ok, I'll try the extracting of teh wav using something else.

But on a theoretical point of vue how come winamp plays the wave file perfectly and none of the mux programs can take it ?

Just so I'll go to bed less stupid tonight...
