    Hello.
I really dont understand whats going on in here.
Yesterday I encoded 4 movies with ffmpegX to H.264 using mencoder and everything went fine.
Today I encoded 3 movies and in all of them the video and audio are out of sync.
I used the same options in all encodings.
    Thanks

If the A/V sync is good in the originals, and you can play them in QT Player, try MPEG Streamclip to encode to H264. It's a good alternative; let's call it another tool in your toolbox.

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes the A/V sync is god in the original and it plays fine in QT.
Thanks for that suggestion, but i need a program with subtitles support and MPEG Streamclip doesnt support :/
The strange thing is that ffmpegx worked before and after a reboot it doesnt work anymore..

Are there any other differences (codecs) between the ones that -did- transcode properly and the ones that didn't?

Where does the AV sync problem arise? During the mencoder encoding (to include the subs) or afterwards, when going to H264?

You have to be doing two encodings: The first to add the subs and the second to go to H264. Check your videos and advise where the problem occurs.

A-ha! I thought (erroneously) you were going to H264 for iPod (which requires a separate encoding in order to do the embedded subs).

I don't have a snap-of-my-fingers solution for you but, as a workaround, you might try embedding the subs first keeping the quality max'd with DivX or XviD and, if the resulting file is in sync, then do the H264 transcoding. You shouldn't lose any quality.

that's what i am doing..i dont lose quality but lose lots of time
guess i'll wait for a new version..

  12. I'm having a similar problem trying to convert a 1 min .mov to .avi Divx (using the presets)

The .mov file is fine in QT, but played in mplayer, the audio's out of sync with the video. The resulting .avi is exactly like the out-of-sync clip that plays in mplayer.

The source format says from mov, video qtrle, rgba32, 848x477, audio adpcm_ima_qt, 22050 Hz, mono

    in the options tab

  16. in the options tab
    Thanks for offering to help

On my option tab I have mencoder DivX options: high quality, use b-frames, 4 motion vectors, two-pass encoding, three-pass encoding, trellis quantization, quarter pixel ME (qpel), but nothing about quicktime.

If I select divx ffmpeg instead of divx mencoder, the decode with quicktime appears. But then the encoding fails (I cannot even play the source movie with the play button).

    version 0.0.9x r2
