What's up, I'm new here and I'd like to ask you to answer this simple (?) question. I've just got AVS Video Converter and I've been converting all kinds of formats OK except for WMV...

The source file is 320x240 at 30 FPS and I want it to be a 640x480 AVI at 29,97. My problem is that the output file is missing a lot of frames which can be noticed immediately (it's just choppy). I'm a n00b but I know a couple of things, including how to use basic features of VirtualDub etc. (if that helps). What should I do?

EDIT: I forgot to add that the input WMV was cut from a larger file using AVI/MPEG/RM/WMV Splitter 4.28 8)

Try instead Virtualdub-mpeg2(it has wmv support) or Windows Movie Maker and save as dv-avi.

    Welcome to the forum!
First q is: Why wmv to AVI?
wmv is a real pain to convert to anything at all - very much a dead end as far as video format conversions go.
If you really must, I'd avoid cutting the wmv up - convert the whole thing to AVI, then cut the AVI.
Some later version of VirtúalDubMpeg2 can load wmv (and the save out as AVI).

mats - because the file just happens to be in wmv, simple as that I don't have it in any other format.

VirtualDub MPEG2 solved the problem, thanks

Oh, the question was not why you use wmv as source, but rather why you had to get it into AVI format.
