  1. I've noticed no media player plays MPEG2 video (MPV, M2V) very well. They always show the length wrong.

    examples...
    video is ~2 hours long
MPC, GOM Player, and MPlayer reports my video as ~38 min
VLC doesnt even attempt and just gives me a length of 0 min
PowerDVD says it is ~1h:30m and keeps changing

The weird thing about this is that if I let it play through (no fast forward) it plays properly. But once I seek it goes haywire. I'm really only interested in having them (MPV, M2V files) work in MPC because of its ability to play an external audio file with the video. The reason I want to do this is because I'd like to see if my movie is synced before I take the time of authoring to DVD files.

how do you create the mpeg2? downloaded? captured? or how? it probably needs to be fixed using for example videoredo.

  3. Well I encode AVI files with CCE and HC and it happens with both.

edit: nvm I found something called DGIndex that fixes the problem. Thanks.
