I use the Panasonic DVD Recorder (dmr-eh50) to record bunches of DVD's. I've recorded video to nearly a dozen DVD's from VHS tapes. The problem is that later when I go to Finalize the DVD's, some of them will get errors during the recording process and I usually end up trashing them. I have DVD's with video recorded to them spread out on a desk until they're ready for finalizing. The DVD's are Taiyo Yuden.

    The question is..

Are these unfinalized DVD's prone to damage moreso in their "unfinalized" state than if they were already finalized?

Well, because I need to always go back and add an additional video clip to the DVD. So, I need to keep it open until I can't add any more.

I'd recommend to put them on something soft to prevent accidental scratching.
