I recently re-authored an episodic DVD, and after removing the bits and pieces I didn't want I created a new menu command structure with PGCEdit. I tried to check the functionality of the DVD by using the "trace"-function in PGCEdit, and it seemed to work the way it should. I burned a copy and tried it in my stand-alone player, and now it behaved differently - after playing episode 8 it was supposed to jump to menu 3 but it went to menu 2 instead. I put the same disc back in the computer and tried it with PowerDVD and it worked the way I intended it to again.
I grew frustrated enough to author the complete DVD from scratch and it works fine now, that's not the problem, but what I want to know is: is this normal? Are PowerDVD and PGCEdit too forgiving, or is my stand-alone behaving strange?
Is there any way to find out if the DVDs I have made are completely DVD-compliant, meaning playing the way I want them to on all stand-alones? It would be frustrating to have to re-author my home-made films if I was to buy another DVD-player...

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
