Hi
I am transferring old 8mm Cine film onto DVD via my Video Camera off a projector screen.
I am getting the old problem of flicker, can someone please tell me in simple terms (because i am a little simple), what speed does the 8mm projector ( Eumig 501) run at , and what speed does my video camera record and then play at, would a Sankyo 1000 projector that has a variable speed control make a difference ??
Cheers
Mike

Variable speed will indeed get out the flicker. You can see the results as you watch through your camcorder. The old original 8mm film runs at 16 frames per second (fps), but you can either slow it to 15fps to sync up 2 frames per second with the 30fps speed of video (if you are shooting NTSC; otherwise, you'd match it to 25fps for PAL). On the later, Super 8 film, the cameras allowed a choice between 18 and 24 fps. I always used 20fps to get out the flicker. I always eyeballed it as I adjusted the variable speed on the projector until the flicker went away. Through trial and error, I have gotten great results.
